Client Spotlight: Amanda’s Boudoir Journey

Rediscovering Herself Through Boudoir

There are moments in life where we slowly lose pieces of ourselves without even realizing it.

For Amanda, boudoir became a way to reconnect with the woman underneath the responsibilities, stress, and life changes that had slowly taken over.

When she booked her session, she shared that she wanted to do something that made her feel confident and reminded her of her worth. After her divorce, this session became more than just photos — it became a step toward embracing confidence, independence, and everything she was becoming in this next chapter of life.

Like many women, Amanda admitted she felt nervous leading up to her session.

“I had butterflies for sure! A little nervous, a little excited, and definitely wondering what I had gotten myself into.”

But underneath those nerves was excitement — excitement to step outside her comfort zone and do something completely for herself.

And once the session started, everything shifted.

“Honestly, it ended up being so much fun. I started out a bit shy, but that didn’t last long. Once I got into it, I felt more and more confident with each pose.”

One of the things Amanda mentioned most was how supported and comfortable she felt throughout the experience. From guided posing to encouragement during the session, she was able to relax into the moment and truly enjoy herself.

Her session took place both in my Northern Virginia studio and outdoors in Tulum, Mexico — two completely different settings that brought out different sides of her personality. The result was a beautiful blend of soft, playful, feminine, sexy, and elegant imagery that still felt true to who she is.

And then came the image reveal.

“I was blown away seeing my images — confident, sexy, and completely in love with how I looked.”

That moment is one of my favorite parts of what I do as a boudoir photographer. So many women walk into their session carrying insecurities, self-doubt, or the feeling that they’ve somehow lost themselves along the way. Seeing themselves through a different lens can be incredibly emotional and healing.

For Amanda, the experience became a reminder that she is still her outside of “mom mode.”

“This session helped me reconnect with my femininity and confidence. I see myself in a much more loving and empowered way now — I feel strong, sexy, and proud of who I am.”

One of my favorite answers from Amanda’s questionnaire was the advice she would give another woman considering boudoir:

“Do it. Seriously — stop waiting for the ‘right moment’ because this is it.”

And honestly? She’s right.

There will always be reasons to wait:

  • waiting until you lose weight,

  • waiting until life slows down,

  • waiting until you feel more confident,

  • waiting until everything feels perfect.

But confidence rarely comes before experiences like this.

Sometimes confidence is built by finally saying yes to yourself.

Amanda’s story is such a beautiful reminder that boudoir isn’t just about photographs. It’s about reconnecting with yourself, celebrating who you are right now, and allowing yourself to feel seen again.

And judging by Amanda’s words…
I think she did exactly that.
